Andrew Sutton - Conductor and Musical Director
Andrew studied at U.C.N.W., Bangor specialising in performance. He was orchestral manager for his conducting coach, John Hywel who gave him much of his insight in dealing with choral singers! He frequently broadcast on BBC Wales and once found that he was going to be performing the premiere of a contemporary concerto as it was announced live in Welsh.
Andrew has conducted the Mid Sussex Choir since 1987 covering many of the major choral works, including Elgar’s Dream of Gerontius, Brahms’ Requiem, Orff’s Carmina Burana and many more. He teaches at Hurstpierpoint College and St Leonards - Mayfield School and is an examiner for Edexcel and Trinity Guildhall. As a player, Andrew performs regularly with various orchestras including the Sussex Symphony Orchestra and he is the lead saxophonist in the Ronnie Smith Showband.
He will be celebrating 30 years with the choir in 2017.
